I have been honoured this year to be part of this new artbook by 3Dtotal with the support of the British museum celebrating the work of famous japanes illustrator Hokusai.

"Hokusai: An Artists' Tribute is a celebration of the artist's work and influence that has reached far past the borders of Japan. 3dtotal Publishing has had the fantastic opportunity to take fourteen of the master's drawings and bring them to life in full colour with the help of professional artists across the industry today.

Our carefully chosen artists have created thoughtful recreations of Hokusai's original line works in their own style and share insights into the inspiration behind their interpretations. The original works have been selected from The Great Picture Book of Everything, a collection held at the British Museum consisting of 103 postcard-sized brush drawings detailing Hokusai's working methods."

This one is my contribution based on a very similar drawing that really reminded me of the fantastic worlds of Ghibli studios and the newer Zelda games: The old tree at Konomine.

In the book 14 artists, including me, tell you all about their process in detail and about their thoughts on Hukusai and japanese art.

The Kickstarter of the project has been successfull and you can preorder it here, including 14 postcards of all the artworks included.
